Day 1 – The Prophecy of the Virgin Birth
Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin will conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
Isaiah 7:14 (WEB)
Isaiah prophesied about the virgin birth over 600 years before the birth of Jesus. This is one of the many prophecies that were fulfilled by Jesus. God had planned Jesus’ coming and prepared the work that he would do on the earth. This plan was laid down from the beginning of the world. He knew that mankind would have no hope to save himself. It would require God’s own sacrifice to destroy the law of sin and death. Only Jesus could accomplish this by becoming a man, living a human life, taking all sin on himself, and dying to destroy that sin in order to free us. Isaiah’s prophecy was given as one way for us to verify that Jesus truly is the Son of God. His coming was written hundreds of years before it occurred.

Jesus taught us that giving is greater than receiving. He demonstrated that through the constant service and love that he poured out to the sick and the outcast. Then, in ultimate service for us, he finally gave his life on the cross. Even though he was blameless, he died for those who had turned against the Father so that they could come back home. However death could not hold him. On the third day he rose again proving that he truly was the Son of God. He welcomed all who are weak and lonely to come to him and find forgiveness and rest.
